The Kiss

by G.A. Hauser

"You did mean! You know what? Have a nice night, alone!"

He shoved a chair violently and rushed to catch up with Ian, grabbing his coat.

As Ian stormed out of his room, head down, jacket on, hands deep inside his pockets, Claire choked on what she wanted to say. "Sorry," was the only word to make it passed her lips.

When it reached his ears, he paused, raising his wounded expression to her. As the pain found her, she felt sick. "Ian, forgive me. I didn't mean—"

Lowering his dark lashes, he reached for the handle just as Scott fell in behind him, not looking back.

When the door closed Claire never remembered feeling so alone. She had to stop hounding them about this gay thing. It wasn't fair and was obviously wounding them both. Whether they were gay or not, she just had to cool it! Why was she so spiteful? Could it be that, lovers or not, she was being left out?
